Phyllis M. (Mahonski) Griggs

Phyllis M. (Mahonski) Griggs, 99, of South Williamsport, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026 at The Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital.

She was born on July 8th, 1926, in Williamsport to Bruno and Anna (Kereski) Mahonski.

Phyllis was a lifelong member of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed her coffee club, played cards, bingo, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her six children, Joyce L. Jones of South Williamsport, Harold A. Griggs III (Ann) of Newark, Ohio, Joseph A. Griggs (Sherry) of South Williamsport, James E. Griggs (Mary) of Lewisburg, Kristin M. Kinney (Stephen) of South Williamsport, Marc K. Griggs (Millie) of Endeavor, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and sister Caroline M. Engle.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Griggs Jr.; daughter, Ann M. Fry; grandson, Joshua A. Griggs, four sisters; and three brothers.

Per the wishes of Phyllis, there will be no visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026 at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 800 W Central Ave., South Williamsport, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Montoursville.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions in Phyllis’ name be made to the Susquehanna Foundation, for the benefit of the Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport PA 17701.
