William K. “Bill” Kahler

William K. “Bill” Kahler, 92, of Muncy, died on Friday, February6, 2026, at UPMC, Williamsport.

Born May 14, 1933, in Scranton, he was a son of the late Daniel and Pauline (Confer) Kahler. On June 22, 1957, he married the former Nancy A. Waltman who predeceased him on January 24, 2025. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Bill was a 1951 graduate of Muncy High School. He served honorably in the United States Coast Guard and later earned his bachelor’s in science education from Lock Haven University, and his master’s from the University of Wisconsin. He worked as a math, physics and chemistry teacher for many years at both Montgomery High School and later Mifflinburg High School, where he retired.

Bill was a member of St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, Montgomery. He also served for many years throughout the area as a Lutheran lay minister.

Bill was a 70-year member of the Muncy Masonic Lodge No 299, F&AM where he served as Worshipful Master in 1976. He served in the Scottish Rite and Most Wise Master of the Rose Croix and was a past Commander-in-Chief of the Williamsport Consistory. Bill was coronated a 33rd degree Mason Sept. 25, 1990. In the York Rite he served as a presiding officer of Warrior Run Royal Arch Chapter, Baldwin Commandery Knights Templar, Council of Royal and Select Masons, Red Cross of Constantine and Council of Allied Masonic Degrees.

In earlier years, Bill coached wrestling at Montgomery High School. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and trips to Canada. His biggest passion was his family, especially spending time with grandchildren.

Surviving are two children, William Kahler Jr. and his wife, Cheryl Burchfield, of Titusville, FL, and James Kahler and his wife, Michele, of Springfield, OR; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one son, Roger Kahler; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Martha Kahler; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Jim McClain and Mary Lou and Richard Houseknecht.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 13 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 14 where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with James Girven and Rev. Ron Montgomery, officiating. A Masonic service will be held on Friday prior to the visitation.

Burial will be held in the Muncy Cemetery.
