Barbara Kustanbauter, 86, of Montoursville, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Wolf Run Village surrounded by her family.
Born May 3, 1939, in Bellefonte, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Evelyn (Macmillan) Law.
Barbara was a longtime member of Faith United Methodist Church in Montoursville, where she sang in the choir. Throughout her career she joined the Business of Professional Women Organization and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Outside of work and volunteering, she had a strong sense of family values. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, gardening, knitting, playing piano and cards, and traveling. She loved boating and being on the water so much she helped teach the boater safety courses. As the family began to grow, she started knitting blankets for each grandchild to use. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her. She loved cooking for everyone, especially the grandkids blueberry pancakes. Most of all she traveled everywhere with her husband Joe, many cruises and beaches were visited, and family trips to the Outer Banks were cherished.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph Kustanbauter, of Montoursville; three sons, Stephen (Laurie) Kustanbauter, of Hughesville, Chris (Mary) Kustanbauter, of Red Lion, and Brian (Angie) Kustanbauter, of Muncy; eight grandchildren, Michael (Helena) Kustanbauter, Joshua Kustanbauter, Amanda Kustanbauter, Emily Kustanbauter, Derek (Molly Bray) Kustanbauter, James "JR" (Abbe) Kustanbauter, Katie Kustanbauter, and Jason Kustanbauter; three great-grandchildren, Bonnie Bray, Ryan and Alexander Kustanbauter; and a sister, Peggy Gerber.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.
In keeping with Barbara's wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
