Douglas R. Spotts

Douglas R. Spotts, 72, of Hughesville, died Friday, March 13, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born April 2, 1953, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late H. Ray and Barbara (Leavy) Spotts. He and his wife, the former Denise Butler, celebrated 37 years of marriage on July 2, 2025.

For over 36 years, Doug owned and operated Doug Spotts Appliance, Hughesville, before retiring in 2019. He enjoyed giving back to the Hughesville community through his longtime sponsorship of East Lycoming Little League and the Little Spartan’s Football team. Doug was also a founding member of the Greater Hughesville Business Association, and a proud supporter of Camp Victory.

In his free time Doug would often be found spending time with his beloved Springer Spaniels and working in his garage, as he was an avid Mopar enthusiast and member of Mopar Muscle of Central Pennsylvania.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, Michael (Sarah) Shipman of Watsontown; a daughter, Mary Shipman of Muncy; a brother, Dennis (Amy) Spotts Sr. of Muncy; a sister, Sue (Skip) Stackhouse of Montoursville; four grandchildren, Zachary Little, Kyle Little, Laurel Shipman, and Audrey Shipman; three nephews, Dennis Spotts Jr., Alan Spotts, and Trevor Stackhouse; and a niece, Stephanie Carson.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Shipman, and a nephew, Jared Stackhouse.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, March 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St, Hughesville.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Camp Victory, P.O. Box 810, Millville, PA 17846, or Hughesville Fire Department, 30 S. Railroad St., Hughesville, PA 17737.
