Edith L. Saar

Edith L. Saar, 93, a long-time resident of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Valley View Nursing Center.

Born on August 1, 1932, in Williamsport, Edith was the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Margie F. (Schlesinger) Haire. After graduating from Williamsport Area High School in 1950, Edith married the love of her life, Richard J. Saar, who preceded her in death in December of 2014. Edith enjoyed a fulfilling career with Phillips North America, formerly GTE Sylvania Materials, where she retired. She was a NASCAR fan, and enjoyed watching her favorite driver, Bill Elliott. Outdoor events such as fairs were highlights in her yearly calendar, as well as vacationing to the beach. Edith also enjoyed trips to the Lycoming Mall every Saturday with her daughter. Above all, she loved spending quality time with her family.

Edith is survived by her son Lee R. Saar (Joyce), a brother, Ronald Haire, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, Edith is preceded in death by her daughter, Linda M. Saar, and her brothers, Robert, Donald, and James Haire.

Services for Edith will be private.
