Elvera Rose “Ellie” Peck
Elvera Rose “Ellie” Peck, 86, of South Williamsport entered into the arms of Jesus, Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at UPMC Williamsport. Her loving husband of 63 years, John D. “Jack” Peck, survives her.
Born May 10, 1939 in Williamsport, she was the only daughter among three children of the late Anthony and Bertha (Telfer) Formica.
Ellie was a proud graduate of the Williamsport School of Nursing and devoted her life to caring for others through a long and meaningful career as a registered nurse. She began her work at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lancaster and later retired from the former Susquehanna Health Williamsport Hospital. Nursing was more than a profession to Ellie; it was a reflection of her compassionate and nurturing heart. She had a natural way of comforting those around her, offering kindness, patience, and understanding, yet those who knew her well also appreciated her spirited, feisty streaks that made her all the more memorable.
In her quieter moments, Ellie found joy in sewing and quilting, creating beautiful pieces stitched with care and love. She was an avid reader, but her greatest happiness came from time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, sharing laughter and memories with those she loved. Ellie was always the host of the holidays and she cherished her friendships, especially “That Group,” and remained closely connected with her fellow nursing retirees.
Surviving in addition to her husband are five children, Amy Maneval (Michael) of Cogan Station, Lisa Andrews (Thomas) of TN, Michele Davidson (Jack) of Lancaster, Matthew Peck of South Williamsport, and Michael Peck (Angie) of Williamsport; 10 grandchildren, Kinsey, Mikhaela, Adam, Evan, Manda, Marlayna, Lauren, Jackson, Owen and Emaline; six great grandchildren, Eli, Ivy, Jax, Marina, Madigan, and Maylee; a daughter in law, Amy Horning; two sisters-in-law, Mary and Gloria Formica and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Alphonse and Anthony Formica.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Wednesday, April 1 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 800 W. Central Ave. South Williamsport. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. A viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St. Williamsport.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ellie’s name to St. Boniface Parish and mailed to 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
