Fred L. Reed
On March 18th, 2026, Fred L. Reed, a lifelong resident of Hughesville was reunited with his loved ones, and wife Alice Burkholder. Born April 10, 1936 he was the son of the late Wilmer and Bernice (Hill) Reed.
Fred was employed as a master mechanic at Gilbert Brothers Chevrolet, which then turned into Murray Motors, for his entire career. He was an avid shooter and reloader, and loved spending time at Sulphyr Springs Gun Club where he was a member, with his best friend, Frank Dewalt.
He is survived by his nephews, Dan Reed and Carmen Rupert; niece, Susan Weaver; three daughters, Elizabeth (George Hamilton) Burkholder, Amy (Tim) Seagraves, and Theresa Burkholder; and son, Corey (Keanna) Burkholder. Fred especially loved spending time with his 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to acknowledge a heartfelt thank you to Kelly Fox and his extended family at Lindauers Tavern for being so generous and caring to Fred over the years. He truly loved you all!
Also, a special thank you to Matthew, Larry, Beth, Amy, Keanna, and Lexie, you all did an amazing job over the last several years. The family would also like to thank Geisinger Muncy Acute Care Unit and Residential Hospice.
Following Fred’s wishes, there will be a memorial service held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, at Trinity Gospel Church, 1010 Elmira Street, Williamsport.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations in his memory be made to Geisinger Medical Center Emergency Department or to the Acute Care Unity, in Muncy.
