Barton Dale Satteson Jr. (Bart)

Barton Dale Satteson Jr. (Bart), of Elimsport Road in Montgomery, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026, with his wife and daughters by his side.

Born on September 16, 1948, in Muncy, PA, he was the son of the late Barton D. Satteson Sr. and Mary E. Fox Satteson. He married the former Donna Shadle on December 19, 1969, and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Bart graduated from Montgomery Area High School in 1966. He made a living as a tin knocker, a welder, and an operator. After high school, he worked for D.O.W. in Lewisburg as a sheet metal worker and was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers’ Local Union 44 out of Wilkes-Barre. Over the years he worked at several shops, including M&M Sheet Metal in Williamsport, before retiring at age 55. He then went on to work for Operating Engineers as a heavy equipment operator, contributing to the gas line and many local projects.

Bart also had his own heavy equipment and completed countless jobs for residents throughout the Elimsport valley. When it came to running equipment, he was in a league of his own-everyone knew he could move dirt and shape the land better than just about anyone. He felt at home on a dozer, a backhoe, or behind the wheel of his dump truck.

He loved the valley of Elimsport, the place he called home. He served his community through the township fire department, as a township supervisor, and as a founding member of the Elimsport Snowmobile Club. He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. Bart built a life rooted in hard work, loyalty, and quiet generosity. He was the man people counted on-the one who showed up, lent a hand, and shared what he knew with anyone willing to learn. He was always ready with a steady word of wisdom, the kind that came from experience and a good heart.

In his younger years, Bart enjoyed tractor pulling and drag racing at Green Pine and Beaver Springs. He spent many hunting seasons with his dad and brothers at the Satteson family cabin. He liked Chevys and Harleys, and he and Donna rode their Harley across the continental United States and into Canada, including four trips to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. He also looked forward to Thursday night card games in his garage with friends. Above all, Bart loved his family. They were his constant and the center of every choice he made.

As Bart would often say, “I’ve had a great life.”

He is now reunited with his beloved granddaughter Dionna, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. Her passing brought him deep heartache, and the family finds comfort knowing they are together again.

Bart is survived by his wife, Donna Shadle Satteson; his three daughters, Stacy Winters (Dave), Susan Satteson (Phil Winder), and Sherry Stopper (Curt); his grandchildren, Paige Makenzie Winters, Brielle Dionna Satteson, Sawyer Barton Satteson, Alyssa Gulli (Joe), and Nick Winters; his great-grandchildren, Rowan and Sutton; his sister, Reda Everetts (Glenn); his brothers, Daniel “Sooner” Satteson (Sandy) and William Satteson; and his brothers-in-law, Glenn Shadle (Nancy) and Paul Shadle (Bonnie). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Dionna Jordyn Satteson; his brother, Dennis Satteson; his parents, Bart and Mary Satteson; his parents-in-law, Raymond and Ruth Shadle; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Shadle.

Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at Elimsport United Methodist Church 16145 S. Rt. 44 Hwy., Allenwood, with Pastor David Shultz officiating. Burial will follow at Elimsport Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
