Chrystie S. Engle
Chrystie S. Engle, born July 25, 1944, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at her home. She was preceded in death by her younger brother Chip, her sister Linda and grandson, Maxwell Maitland Engle.
She is survived by her loving husband, John G. “Jack” Engle; children; Amy Engle Hines, Joshua (Heather) Engle; grandchildren, Joshua Hines, Alexander (Carly) Hines, Madalyn (Travis) Eiswerth; greatgrandchildren, Evelyn and Emilia Eiswerth.
Chrystie was a graduate of Lycoming College with a BA degree in Psychology and Sociology. She started her professional career in social services at Divine Providence Hospital. She worked in public service for Lycoming County as an Adult Probation officer. Before she retired, she worked many years as a probation officer for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health issues. In lieu of gifts upon retirement she asked for donations to start a children’s library at the Family Resource Center through the county Children and Youth office.
Chrystie was loved and revered by her family (immediate and extended), as well as many friends. She was the one who we all went to for support and counsel at different times in our lives. She did so without expecting anything in return. She was respected not only for her counsel but for how she made people feel.
She was very welcoming and loved to get people together. She would happily welcome anyone and offer a drink, some food, and some insightful conversation.
Among her many talents, was cooking, which she enjoyed for the smiles and satisfaction of others. Her feasts were worthy of magazine print and those of us who were lucky enough to be there enjoyed it immensely.
There were many reasons why her family loves her. Some of them are, she was open-minded, insightful, morally centered, loving, caring, accepting, strong, courageous, brave and a gift to all of us straight from God to the world. Her example of how to love and support others will be with us always.
Of course, her greatest memories are in the woods.
In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you spend some special time with your family.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Jersey Shore. www.WelkerFuneralHome.com.
