David L. Shirey

David L. Shirey, 78, of Linden, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Rose View Nursing Center in Williamsport.

He was the beloved husband of Beverly L. (Corage) Shirey with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.

Born in Jersey Shore, Dave was the son of the late Oscar I. and Martha H. (Hilling) Shirey.

After graduating from Williamsport High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served during the Vietnam War.

For many years, he was the owner and operator of Down Home Trucking.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Shirey is survived by his children, Gretchen Mantle (Heath) of Linden and Robert Shumac (Cathleen) of Dubiostown; grandchildren, Jordan and Taylor Mantle and Preston and Isaiah Shumac; great grandchildren, Cyrus Sweeting and Fiona and Desmond Shumac; and great nephew, Jeremiah Flook.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Anna Lee Volkman and Oscar, Robert, Ralph, and Gordon Shirey.

Services are being held privately for the family.
