Georgina M. Sackandy

Georgina M. Sackandy, 85, of Williamsport, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Valley View Nursing Center.

Born April 3, 1935 in Indiana, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Inez (Busani) Sackandy.

Georgina was a 1953 graduate of DuBois Area High School. She received a B.S. Degree in Education from Indiana State Teachers College (now IUP) in 1956 and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Pennsylvania State University in 1964.

She taught Elementary Education at Lose School in Williamsport Area School District for 35 years.

She presently attended Pine Street United Methodist Church where she participated in the U.M.W and several committees.

Georgina was a member of the Lycoming County Chapter and Pennsylvania State Association of School Retirees. She also belonged to the Delta Kappa Gamma Society (Omicron Chapter).

Survivors include her brother, George Sackandy, Jr. (Karen) of Altoona, PA; as well as several nieces and nephews, and two great nieces and two great nephews.

Preceding her in death was a sister, a stepmother, a niece, and a nephew.

A service celebrating the life of Georgina will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 2 pm at Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine St, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Interment will be held privately, at a later date, in Morningside Cemetery near DuBois.
