James (Jim) D. Kilgus
James (Jim) D. Kilgus, 94, of Montoursville, died Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born January 25, 1932, in Muncy, he was a son of the late Ray Kilgus and Clara (Swank) Kilgus. Jim was raised in Chippewa but later moved to Pennsdale with his family. He was a graduate of Muncy High School and served our country for two years in the United States Army, where he was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. After being honorably discharged, Jim went on to work at Young Industries in Muncy for almost 38 years.
He and his wife, Gail, shared a wonderful life together, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on August 26, 2026. They loved to travel all over the country, especially to Atlantic City and Boston.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed taking walks and watching sports on television, especially Penn State Football. He loved hunting and was a member of Camp Sand Spring for many years, where he made many lifelong friends, and was a member of the American Legion Post 2068. Jim was also an animal lover, and had a special relationship with his dog, Judy, who misses him terribly.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Gail Kilgus, of Montoursville; daughters, Amy (Brett) Herbst of Bastress Township, and Sue Giqunito and family; son, James P. Kilgus of Utah; granddaughters, Ryleigh Herbst, Mikayla Herbst, and Delaney (Gavin) Enders; grandson, James Kilgus, Jr.; great-grandson, Beau Enders; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim is also predeceased by grandson, Nathan Giqunito; sisters, Eleanor Kilgus, Barbara Fogle, and Lillian Kepner; brothers, Harold Kilgus and Fred Kilgus; nephew, Scott Kepner; and sister-in-law, Mary Kilgus.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville.
Services will be private at the request of the family.
