Jean Doris (Catherman) Frantz, Marquardt

Jean Doris (Catherman) Frantz, Marquardt, 90, passed away on April 2, 2026, after struggling with Dementia at Cedar Haven Healthcare Center in Lebanon.

Born May 14, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Tobias O. and Anna E. (Derr) Catherman of Swengel. Born into a family of ten, she has three surviving siblings, Patrica Zechman, Glenn, and James Catherman.

Jean worked at Mifflinburg Silk Mill, American Home Foods, and retired after 20 years from Lysock View Nursing Home. She was a caregiver for her Mother-In-Law, Eva (Bartlow) Frantz, a volunteer at Kramm’s Nursing Home and enjoyed spending time with her family and assisting friends.

Jean enjoyed Nannying to both family members and others, and became a second mom to many, including some second generation families. She was a member of the Friends Church of Hughesville.

Surviving is a son, Earl E. Frantz (Anne), of Myerstown; step-children, Joesph Falce, of Hermitage Tenn., Priscilla L. Lingenfelter, of Montgomery, Pamella G. Hauck, of Lewisburg, Lillian (Dan) Foust, of Muncy, Teena M. (Clyde) Fuoss, of Unityville, Fairie Ann (Jeff) Fuoss, of Montgomery, April J. Marquardt, of Muncy, Bessie L. (Charles) Lowry, of Montgomery, and Timothy L. (Linda) Marquardt, of Hughesville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by husbands, Chester Francis Frantz Jr., of 32 years, and Authur Ludwig Marquardt, of 17 years; brothers Clarence J., Tobias O. Jr., Abraham L., and Robert M. Catherman; three sisters, Helen Raker, Bettie Catherman, and Mary Jane Brown; and a stepson, B. Edward Marquardt.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Rev. Dan Cale, officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Hughesville Friends Church, 137 S. Third St., Hughesville, PA 17737, or to the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department, 30 S. Railroad St, Hughesville, PA 17737.
