Lucille E. “Lucy” Persun

Lucille E. “Lucy” Persun, 95, formerly of Trout Run, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2026 with her family by her side. She has finally been reunited with her late husband, Donald “Dick” Persun, who passed away December 13, 1997.

Born March 25, 1931, in Covington, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Leona (Emberger) Smith.

Lucy was a Covington High School graduate and continued her education at Bob Jones University. Her longstanding and dedicated career was spent as a secretary, first at Lowry Electric and later at the former Parente Beard, now Baker Tilly Accounting Firm.

Lucy was known for being an excellent cook and baker, making delicious desserts like cherry crumb pie and oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies. She was a lover of animals, particularly cats, and proudly supported the Lycoming County SPCA, and was also a talented piano player. Lucy could often be found spending hours outside in her garden, tending to her flowers, landscaping her property, and decorating the home her husband so lovingly built for her.

Lucy will be most missed for her wonderful conversation skills and how she made every person she met feel special.

Lucy is survived by a sister, Patty Chaborek (Donald); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Lucy was predeceased by seven sisters.

A funeral service to honor Lucy’s life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 25 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service, Saturday, at Sanders.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lucy’s name to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
