Russell C. Reitz
Russell C. Reitz, 89, of Williamsport, met his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Surviving is his loving wife of 65 years, Marie E. (Morris) Reitz.
Born October 13, 1936 in Franklin, he was a son of the late Clair and Cynthia (Stewart) Reitz.
Russ was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School class of 1954 and also attended Bible Institute in London, Ont.
For 62 years, Russ was a highly respected agent with State Farm Insurance, retiring in 2025. He began his career in New Bethlehem in 1962 and, in 1966, established his Williamsport office. Throughout his distinguished career, he earned numerous accolades and professional designations, including ChFC, CLU, and LUTCF. Known not only for his expertise but for his genuine care for others, Russ cherished the relationships he built with his clients. He especially enjoyed hosting his annual cookout at the farm, bringing together customers, family, and friends.
Russ lived his life to glorify God. He was a devoted member of Northway Community Church and was active in many Christian circles. He found great joy in hunting and fishing, often planning special trips centered around both, as well as spending time working on his farm “Gracious Meadows”. Russ also served his community with dedication. He was elected a Lycoming County Commissioner from 1996 to 2000, and he contributed his time to various community boards and faithfully served on the Salvation Army Williamsport Board for 28 years, receiving the Member Emeritus Award in 2023. Above all, Russ treasured his role as a husband, Dad and “Poppy,” all titles he carried with great pride and love.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Kevin R. Reitz, Kathy R. Eggerton (Gary), and Keith R. Reitz, daughter -in-law Patrice Reitz all of Williamsport; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and two brothers, Lester and Art (Chris) Reitz; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Micah, a brother, Donald Reitz, and a sister Elizabeth Vogan.
