Sandra M. Jeselnik
Sandra M. Jeselnik, 74, of Muncy, passed away at home surrounded by family and entered the pearly gates on Thursday April 2, 2026. She was born January 29, 1952 in Rochester, NY to the late William E. and Jane M. Derr.
Sandy attended Williamsport High School and later earned her GED. She began her career at SCI Muncy in 1978 as a CO1. She was later promoted to CO2 and worked various posts within the prison, but she excelled when she was assigned to Control Center Sergeant. Sgt. Jeselnik ran that post like an Army general. She distributed keys and equipment with a smile, a laugh, and sometimes creative language and a hand signal; she assigned officers during emergencies, cleared inmate counts, maintained immaculate records, and kept that place running like a well-oiled machine. When her health started to fail, she decided to turn in her keys and uniform and retired after a 25-year career.
While at SCI Muncy, Sandy met and eventually married LuAnn Williams. They shared 46 years together.
Surviving are her wife, LuAnn Williams, a daughter Michele Jeselnik (Jim Panarites) of Muncy; a son Matthew Jeselnik (Bonnie) of Fairbanks, Alaska, two grandchildren – Maona and Christopher who even though far away, loved their “MiMi” almost as much as Sandy loved being MiMi. She is also survived by siblings Sharon Utter and Pete Derr and nieces Tammy and Jennifer and nephew Timmy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings Eddie Derr and Wayne Derr.
A private burial will be held in Muncy Cemetery, and a celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue of your choice.
