Wilfredine Lucille “Billie Lou” Fischer

Wilfredine Lucille “Billie Lou” Fischer, 91, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully at home April 26, 2026, while surrounded by her loving family.

Billie Lou was born in Williamsport on April 8, 1935, a daughter of the late G. Wayne Stoke and N. Lucille (Rolley) Stoke.

She was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Catholic Parish and had been employed by Williamsport Area School District as a teacher’s aide for 20 years. A homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and reading. Billie Lou’s greatest joy was spending time with family.

Her husband of 65 years, Frederick C. Fischer, died January 29, 2021. In addition to her husband and parents, a brother, Harry Stoke and many in-laws preceded her in death.

Surviving are their children and families; Frederick W. Fischer of Williamsport, Julie (Robert) Fagan of Gibsonia, PA; Daniel (Maureen) Fischer of Kettering, OH; Douglas (Christine) Fischer of Montoursville; James (Gina) Fischer of Montgomery, TX; Ellen Schirmer of Williamsport; Judith (Keith) Ruhl of Williamsport, and Margaret “Peg” (Chris) Bird of South Williamsport; 23 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Judith Waldman; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Stoke, Mary McFadden and Fran Fischer.

The family will receive family and friends at Crouse Funeral Home & Cremations Services, 133 E. 3rd St., Williamsport on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 6 to 8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2026 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions in Billie Lou’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, or online at www.stjude.org/honors/memorials or Shepherd of the Streets, 520 W. 4th Street, Williamsport, PA 17701. The family would also like to thank the excellent care and professionalism of UPMC Hospice nurses and aides as they cared for our loved one in her final days.
