Ethel (Kimmelman) Krim

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved matriarch, Ethel (Kimmelman) Krim, on Thursday, May 21, 2026. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family just months after celebrating her 99th birthday. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Lena (Kliger) Kimmelman. She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Krim and her brother, Joseph Kimmelman.

Ethel was a treasured mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Ronald) Nimitz of Wayne, PA; son, Richard (Elaine) Krim of Rancho Mirage, CA; grandchildren, Jed and Jamie Nimitz and Justin, Carly, and Noah Krim; and great-grandson, Eddie Nimitz.

Ethel was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 2, 1927, but spent most of her youth in Foster Township, PA. She attended Ursinus College until Marvin swept her away after returning from WWII and they married on November 17, 1946.

Ethel and Marvin moved to Williamsport in the late 40s, and in 1954 they opened Krim’s Toy Center in downtown Williamsport. They retired after 33 years in business and moved to Singer Island, FL where Ethel made many new friends. She loved to socialize, play bridge and Mahjong, entertain, and of course cook. Everyone Ethel met throughout her life immediately fell in love with her for her sense of humor, her joy of life, her intelligence, her warmth, and her positive attitude.

In October 2025, Ethel moved back to Pennsylvania to be near family. She enjoyed her final months in an assisted living community near Sherry and Ron. She relished her frequent visits from family and friends where she could chat about the past, about family, and about current events.

A funeral service and internment will be held on Friday, June 5 at 10:30 a.m. in the Temple Beth Ha Shalom section of Wildwood Cemetery. Her final resting place will be next to her beloved Marvin. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ethel’s memory may be made to Temple Beth Ha Shalom, 425 Center Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
