Fred Agnoni, Jr., 92 of South Williamsport, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville.
Born August 1, 1933, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, he was a son of Fred and Angeline (Salvatori) Agnoni. Fred lived a life marked by devotion, service, and a deep appreciation for the people and places that shaped him. His loving wife of 64 years Ann R. (Vermilyn) Agnoni preceded him in death on Feb. 3, 2023 and he was also preceded in death by a son Robert M. Agnoni on Aug. 11, 2016, and a brother Victor Agnoni.
Fred attended Williamsport Area High School, and left school early to answer the call to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His military service was a source of great pride, and he was honored with the Korean Service Medal and two bronze stars in recognition of his dedication and bravery. Those who knew him understood that his service reflected the very qualities that defined him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Fred devoted many years of perseverance to his work and to the community around him. He worked at AVCO-Lycoming before becoming the head maintenance supervisor at South Williamsport Area High School, where he served for another 20 years before his retirement. In that position, he was known for his reliability, his strong work ethic, and the care he brought to every responsibility.

He was a member of the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County, where he shared the bond of service with fellow veterans. He was also associated with Travelers Protection Agency and the Sons of Italy #138. For over 40 years, he was a devoted member of the South Williamsport Lions Club, giving his time and energy to community service and fellowship. His long-standing membership in the Lions Club was a testament to his loyalty and his desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. He was a Christian and a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Among Fred’s many interests, was being a fan of the New York Yankees and he especially enjoyed hunting, a pastime that suited his love of the outdoors and his adventurous spirit. He also held a special place in his heart for Ford Mustangs, and he was a founding member of the local North Central Mustang Club. He took great pride in his red Mustang convertible and enjoyed riding in many parades, where the car and the memories it carried became part of the joy he shared with others. These moments reflected his enthusiasm for life and his ability to find happiness in both simple pleasures and lasting traditions. Fred’s infectious smile could light up a room.
