Jean L. White

Jean L. White, 79, of Williamsport, passed away surrounded by family Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Gatehouse. Surviving is her loving husband of 56 years, James A. White, Sr.

Born January 31, 1947 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Florentine (Dincher) Starr.

Jean was a graduate of Williamsport High School and went on to build a dedicated career as a legal secretary. She worked for many years under the direction of Attorney Janice Yaw, and later with the firm of Lepley, Engelman, Wilk & Yaw, from which she eventually retired. She was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Jean found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She especially loved spending time at the family cabin along Little Pine Creek, where she could relax and take in the beauty of nature. Gardening was one of her passions, and she took great pride in nurturing what she planted. She and her husband also cherished their winter trips to Florida, creating lasting memories together away from the cold. Jean had a creative spirit and enjoyed crafting, and she was also known for her impressive shoe collection, which reflected her sense of style and personality. Those who knew her will remember a woman who was loving, kind, and full of humor, with a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued.

Above all, Jean was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife and mother, and being “NeNe” brought her immense joy. She treasured time spent playing games and making memories with her grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband are four children, Tracey Graff (Garret) of Jersey Shore, Johannah Goodreau (Carl) of Pawtucket, RI, James A. White, Jr. (Melony) of Linden and Christopher White (Lauren) of Jersey Shore; six grandchildren, Madison, Ellie, Abby, Skyler, Caleb, and Gavin; five siblings, Dorothy Deuel of Montoursville, Mary Wagner of Williamsport, Kay Harris of VA, Aletha Nevling, of LA, and John Starr of Warminster; numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Otto.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Emily and two sisters, Sylvia Sarno and Linda Baker.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor the life of Jean will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 11th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 5973 Jacks Hollow Rd. Williamsport. The family will receive friends following the service during a time of fellowship. Burial will be held privately.
