John Frederick (Johnny) Stuempfle, Jr
John Frederick (Johnny) Stuempfle, Jr., age 89, died peacefully May 25, 2026, at Celebration Villa of Loyalsock. He was born April 24, 1937, in Binghamton, NY to the late John Frederick and Mildred Alice Deitrick Stuemplfle. Also preceded in death were his stepmother (Trivilla), sister Suzanne Haas, and infant sister Joan Fredrica.
The family, including brother Mike (Kathy) Stuempfle, moved to Williamsport, PA in 1940. He attended Cochran Elementary School and Curtin Middle School and was a 1955 graduate of Williamsport Area High School. Upon graduation, Johnny joined the U.S. Navy and attended Radiomen School in Norfolk, VA. Upon graduation, he served several assignments, including a tour of duty abroad the U.S.S. Orion (AS-18). Johnny served his country from 1956 until he was honorably discharged in 1961.
After leaving the service, he started his 37-year career as a much-loved and requested salesman at Keeler-Hoff Plumbing Supply.
Johnny had a love for Christian music and sang in his school and church choirs for many years. He attended First Church and was a past member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, both in Williamsport.
His hobbies included toy trains and fishing, both of which he shared with his greatest love, his blended family! Johnny and his wife, Marian Little Stuempfle, showed their collection of special nativity-scene trains at the Will Hoffman Toy Train Expo for many years.
Johnny is survived by his and his late-wife, Sandy Stuempfle’s, two daughters Leann (Tom) Ritter and Bettyjo Johnson. His grandchildren are Zach (Katie) Ritter, Andrea (Curt) Schmucker, James, Jamarr, and Isaac (Kelsie) Ritter; Justin (Tracy) Johnson, Cassy (Ryan Zaydell) Nieto, Timothy (Kanae) Johnson, Trevor (Kristine) Johnson, and Brandon Rios. Great-grandchildren are Caroline and Jonathan; Aria, Abram, and Archer; Mya, Kennyon, and Carmello; Austin (Lindsey), Madilynn, and Mackenzie; Logan, Mia, and Jonah; Jett and Aylah; Mason, Milo, and Meadow. His great-great-grandchild, Jaxon, will be born this summer. Uncle Johnny also enjoyed loving relationships with his many nieces and nephews.
Johnny married Marian Little on July 31, 1999. He gained more family, including sister-in-law Lois (the late Bill) Tilford and brothers-in-law Dave (Dawn) and Fred (Trish) Epler. His stepchildren are the late Christopher (Keri) Little, Susan (John) Little Lantz, and Joann (Mike) Little Mason. Grandchildren are Samantha (Bill) Graham, Christopher (Liz) Little, and Tabitha (Justin) Baer; Thomas and Peter (Sarah) Lantz; and Regan (Matt) and Drew Mason. Great grandchildren are Billy, Henry, Luke, and Charlie; Jasmine, Eleanor, and CT; Roman, Julian, and Sullivan.
Since their marriage in 1999, Johnny and Marian’s lives have been centered around their blended family; much of his time with his grandchildren and their families involved fishing at the Eagles Mere Lake.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 AM on Saturday, May 30th, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM at First Church, 604 Market Street, Williamsport, PA 17701. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.
