Rosemary J. Dougherty

Rosemary J. Dougherty, 88, of Cogan Station, passed away after a short illness, Friday, May 1, 2026, surrounded by her four children. Born February 1, 1938, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Walter L. Mitstifer and Olga L. (Sellak) Mitstifer. Rosemary married William E. Dougherty on August 29, 1987, and shared 38 years of marriage.

Rosemary and William shared a wonderful life. Rosemary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother/great grandmother who enjoyed traveling, antiquing, crafting and watching both Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football games.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, William E. Dougherty; daughters, Cynthia L. (Ronald) Heim, of Landis, NC, Deanna L. (Victor) Habib, of Harveys Lake, Janine L. Montgomery, of Williamsport; son, Richard M. (Belinda) German, of Hughesville; four stepchildren; brother, Lee (Cathy) Mitstifer, of Trout Run, 11 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Allen L. German on December 30, 1977; and her brother, Mike Mitstifer.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Noon, Friday, May 8, at Saint Ann Catholic Church 1305 Northway Rd, Williamsport. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the McCarty Thomas Funeral Home 733 Broad Street, Montoursville.
