Anna Jane (Knepp) Patterson
Anna Jane (Knepp) Patterson, 87, of South Williamsport passed away Friday, May 29, 2026 at UPMC Williamsport.
She was born to the late Dr. Hollis Jerome and Frances Lenetta (Wilson) Knepp on March 31, 1939 in Phillipsburg. Anna married Raymond R. Patterson on August 11, 1961. They were married for more than 54 years until his death on January 4, 2016.
Graduating from Philipsburg-Osceola High School in June 1957, Anna went on to graduate from Lock Haven State University in June of 1961. She began her teaching career in September 1961 as a first-grade teacher at Central Elementary School in the South Williamsport Area School District and continued teaching there for 35 years, until her retirement in June 1996, then she went back to Central as a volunteer in the school library for another 22 years. She liked to say that after 57 years at Central it was her second home. Anna was a charter member of the South Williamsport Education Foundation and a member of other educational organizations (PSEAR, NEAR, LCCPASR, and PASR).
Anna was a charter member of the Garden View Church of Christ and the assistant superintendent for the Sunday School. She liked to read, watch TV, go to yard sales, walk with her dogs and to do all kinds of crossword, sudoku, and jigsaw puzzles.
Anna is survived by her brother Edward Wilson Knepp of Philipsburg; a sister in law Carol Knepp of Phoenixville; her nephew Ethan Knepp (Casey) of North Carolina; her niece Kyra Izzo (Paul) of Texas; her nephew Mark Knepp (Cathy) of Chambersburg; nephews William, Earl, Raymond, Steven, and Douglas Beam of Lock Haven; niece Missy Smith of Lock Haven; niece Debra Munro (Dave) of Lock Haven; several grand nephews, nieces and a very special friends Jan Smith.
Besides her parents and her husband, Anna was preceded in death by her brother, Hollis Jerome “Jerry” Knepp.
A funeral service to honor Anna will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 5th at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St. Williamsport. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. A visitation will be held from 5- 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 4th at Sanders Mortuary.
