Clarence J. Michael

With deep sadness, the family of Clarence J. Michael, 79, of Muncy, announces his peaceful passing on June 20, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on July 7, 1946, he was the son of the late Milo and Ocie (Phillips) Michael. Clarance honorably served his country as a U.S. Marine from 1965 to 1968, with one of his fondest memories being his meeting with President Johnson. In his professional life, he enjoyed a long career building mail trucks at Grumman’s until the company’s closure, after which he joined Shop-Vac, where he remained until his retirement.

Clarence lived a full life centered around his passions and family. He was a dedicated member of the Sulfur Springs Gun Club for 24 years, serving on the board of directors and taking great pride in maintaining the club grounds. He was also an active member of the Keystone Rifle Club. A passionate gun collector, his collection brought him immense joy alongside his favorite hobbies: hunting, fishing, and gardening. After losing his wife, Gertrude, Clarence was blessed to find companionship with Karen. For the past 24 years, they shared a beautiful life together, and Clarence proudly welcomed three daughters into his heart as his own.

His memory will be cherished by his companion, Karen Gaines of Muncy; his daughters, Jaime (Matt) Grieco of Lock Haven, Jessica Baney of Lock Haven, and Michelle Caris of Hughesville; his grandchildren: Ryan, Terry, Sacoya, Madison, Jack, Sophia, and Emilia; six great-grandchildren; and his loyal dog, Izzy.

Besides his parents, Clarence is also preceded in death by his sisters; Eleanor, Eldora, and Shirley; brothers, Irvin and George; and his two fur babies, Zoey and Ivy.

A Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Muncy Cemetery, with Pastor Martin Coffey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in Clarence’s name to The Gatehouse at UPMC Divine Providence: https://donate.upmc.com/campaign/605346/donate?c_src=25UPMC
