Constance “Connie” Bastian

Constance “Connie” Bastian, 88, of South Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Heritage Springs Memory Care Community, Muncy.

Born on November 18, 1937, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Robert W. and Flora E. (Goodrich) Mahaffey.

Connie was a 1955 graduate of South Williamsport High School. Following graduation, she began a long career with Bell Telephone, where she worked as an operator and clerk for many years. Connie was active with the Bell Telephone Pioneer’s Clown Unit, sharing laughter and goodwill throughout the community.

On June 1, 1956, she married the love of her life, Donald L. Bastian. Together they recently celebrated 70 years of marriage, a remarkable testament to their enduring love and devotion. Their union was blessed with three children, five granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought Connie immense joy and pride. In their younger years, Connie and Don enjoyed square dancing and roller skating together. Following retirement, they spent many happy years traveling and creating lasting memories with family and friends. Connie also found great joy in bird watching. She will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle nature, unwavering kindness, and the love she shared.

Surviving, in addition to her beloved husband, Donald, are their three children, Deborah Kurtz (Chris) of Owasso, OK, Dawn Bastian, of South Williamsport, and Donald R. Bastian (Michelle) of Blandon, PA; five granddaughters, Amanda Hoover (Jen), Stephanie Taylor (Dylan), Samantha Dunkle (Michael), Samantha Dawn Kurtz, and Katlyn Bastian; six great-grandchildren, Lily Dunkle, Carson Taylor, Grayson Dunkle, Addalynn Hoover, Aria Dunkle, and Oakleigh Hoover; her siblings, Patricia Kelch of Montoursville, Margaret “Peg” Voke (Mark) of Maitland, FL, and Thomas Mahaffey of Montoursville; a sister-in-law, Margaret “Margie” Huyck of South Williamsport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to honor Connie’s life will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 19, at Green Lawn Memorial Park, 62 Route 54 Highway Montgomery.
