Jay Basom Jacobs, Jr.

Jay Basom Jacobs, Jr., 83, a Trout Run resident for the last 25 years, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Edenbrook North.

Born August 22, 1942, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Jay Basom, Sr. and Mary Elmina (Haines) Jacobs.

Jay was a 1960 graduate of Bellefonte High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Bloomsburg State University.

Before his retirement in 2000, Mr. Jacobs taught middle school mathematics in the Bensalem Township School District for 25 years.

He was summer resident of Central Oak Heights in West Milton where he served as treasurer of the association and could be found every Saturday night dipping ice cream cones.

In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his sister, Melissa.

He is survived by his brother, Thomas H. Jacobs (Eilene) of Washington, NC; sister, Mary Anne Jacobs of State College; nephew, Nathan Jacobs (Kirsten); niece, Heather Deck (Ben); grandnieces, Maura Hart (Andy), Anna Deck, Emily Deck; and grandnephew, Isaac Jacobs.

A service to honor Jay’s life will be held at 1:30 pm on July 4th at Central Oak Heights Sylvan Chapel.
