Joyce B. (Lusk) Crossley

Joyce B. (Lusk) Crossley, 92, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at The Williamsport Home with family at her side. She was a long-time resident of Poplar Street in the Newberry section of Williamsport until suffering a debilitating stroke in May 2015.

Joyce was born October 31, 1933, in Williamsport, the daughter of the late Harold and Marie (Howard) Lusk. Her husband of 65 years, John Antrim Crossley, passed away September 29, 2016. She was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Flexer; brothers, Harold (Sonny) and Ronald; son, Ellery; and great-grandson, Issac.

Joyce was a 1951 graduate of Williamsport High School, and a member of the Newberry Church of Christ and Memorial Baptist Church before it closed. She completed the Pennsylvania Department of Aging – Empowered Expert Residents (PEER) program, becoming a resident advisor at The Williamsport Home providing input on issues of concern. She was well-liked by her fellow residents, nurses, aides, patient care attendants, and support staff.

Joyce was a devoted fan of Williamsport Millionaires and Penn State football. Her first job was waitressing for her sister, Shirley, and her husband Dan, owner of the popular Flexer’s Tavern in the West End. She became a working mom spending over fifty years at Sybil Mills / Wundies and its successor companies. She loved her family and gatherings for any occasion at the Lusk house on Third and Depot, and the Howard and the Lusk reunions. Around the old Newberry neighborhood, children knew her unique two-finger whistle, a sound that carried to let her own kids know it was time to come home.

Joyce is survived by her sister, Diana Casale of Williamsport; brother, Louis (Becci) of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; devoted daughter, Lois (Bradley) Hicks of Williamsport; sons, Benjamin (Lydia) of Mount Pleasant, Texas and John (Anita) of Magnolia, Texas; six grandchildren, Jamie, Carly, Keli, Lucas, John Michael, and Laura; ten great-grandchildren, Alex, Neal, Jamison, Bennett, Jade, Adriana, Leah, William, Bryli and Alana; along with her special friends, Janice and Bonnie; and certified nursing assistants, Shea and Desiree.
