Shortly after graduating Clifton High School, Clifton NJ, she moved to Williamsport, PA. and was employed as a legal secretary at the law firm of First, McCormick, Muir, Lynn and Reeder (now the McCormick Law Firm). It was there that she met the love of her life, Peter R. Lynn. They were married in 1963. They were married for just shy of 60 years when Peter predeceased her in 2023.
Joyce and Peter moved to Virginia and raised their family. In 1986 Joyce helped Peter form the company, Government Retirement & Benefits, Inc (GRB) which has helped thousands of Federal employees with their retirement. Joyce worked as the office manager and bookkeeper.
Joyce and Peter’s philanthropic efforts have been endless, together they firmly believed every child should have the opportunity to further their education. Some of their greatest endeavors at Lycoming College were the Joyce Lynn House at the Commons, the Lynn Science Center, Penny’s Plaza, the Trachte Music Center and several Endowed Scholarships.
