Keith W. Hinkal
Keith W. Hinkal of Williamsport, also affectionately known as “Hink” or “The Candyman”, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at his home. Born April 7, 1953, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late William and Verta (Frendberg) Hinkal.
In his youth, Keith attended the A.J. Barbours School and later graduated from Montoursville High School. He went on to start his own business, Hink’s Trucking, where he hauled stone in his white MACK dump truck, which he proudly put over a million miles on. During his trucking career, he was known for handing out candy or sweets on the job site or to anyone he encountered on his travels, hence where his “Candyman” nickname came from.
Keith also owned Creekside Manor Campground in Williamsport, where he combined his love of the outdoors and connecting with others. He could often be seen riding his ATV around the grounds, giving anyone in need a ride, and probably telling them a story along the way. His presence was cherished in the campground and surrounding community. He loved many outdoor activities including hunting, shooting, camping, and even creating ice sculpture formations in the colder months.
He also had a lifelong passion for machinery, finding joy in operating everything from heavy equipment and trucks to ATVs and his treasured muscle cars. He was fascinated by history, loved classic rock music, and never missed an opportunity to share his passions and stories with those around him. Above all, he loved his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.
Surviving is a daughter, Amanda (Richard) Dangle of Montoursville; grandchildren, Addison, Gavin, Charlotte, and Reagan; a brother, Scott Hinkal of Hughesville; a niece, Alyssa (Mike) Hinkal of Danville; nephews Marshall (Amanda) Hinkal of Hughesville and Brandon Hinkal of Williamsport; and his companion, Sharon Thomas.
In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Ellen Hinkal and a sister, Sue Eckenstine.
A funeral service will be held 8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home- Montoursville, 733 Broad Street Montoursville, Pennsylvania, with Pastor Mark Passmore officiating.
