Lois L. O’Malley

Lois L. O’Malley, 88, of Montoursville, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Heritage Springs Muncy surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 8, 1937 in New Brunswick, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Ralph W. and Dorothy L. (Abeling) Simmons. Lois married Thomas M. O’Malley on September 21, 1957 and together they shared 60 blessed years of marriage before his passing in 2018.

Lois was a 1954 graduate of Battin High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She began her career at Liberty Mutual as a typist, where she also met the love of her life. After starting a family and dedicating herself to raising her children, while also working various part-time jobs, Lois returned to Liberty Mutual as a word processor and remained there until her retirement in 1993.

A faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Lois was active in the choir and several church ministries. She was a talented and creative artist who enjoyed ceramics, painting, drawing, quilting, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She also enjoyed taking trips on the “Wrinkle Bus” to Mohegan Sun Casino and researching her family genealogy. Above all, Lois cherished her children and grandchildren and especially loved attending their sporting events, school functions, and other activities, taking great pride in their accomplishments.

Surviving are four children; Sharon M. O’Malley of Montoursville, Thomas P. O’Malley of Montoursville, Kevin M. O’Malley (Annette) of Stroudsburg, and Brian S. “Gus” O’Malley (Wendy) of Montoursville; 11 grandchildren, Erin, Brendan, Shane, Meghan, Bridget, Corey, Adam, Noah, Sean, Kirsten and Lauren; 4 great grandchildren, Thomas, Olivia, Patrick and Penelope; a half sister, Laura Smith and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two siblings, Doris and Phillip Simmons.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor the life of Lois will be celebrated 11 AM on Monday, June 15th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 800 Mulberry St., Montoursville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Sunday, June 14th at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport.
