Michael F. Fogarty

Michael F. Fogarty, 79, of Montoursville, peacefully passed away Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Muncy Place. Born September 24, 1946, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Matthew F. and the late Anna (Lebet) Fogarty. Mike married the former Canda L. Schwenke on June 21, 1975.

A 1964 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School and a 1968 graduate of Mansfield University, Mike taught in the South Williamsport Area School District for 34 years, retiring in 2002. Following his retirement, he worked as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Kimble Realty.

Mike was a true sports fan. He grew up playing baseball and basketball, he coached girls’ basketball and girls’ tennis, and he umpired softball and refereed basketball. Mike broadcasted a variety of high school sporting events as well as Little League World Series games with the WMPT and later WRAK radio sports broadcasting teams.

He was inducted into the West Branch Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.

Mike was a man of quiet faith and steadfast loyalty to his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Canda; son, Brendan (Jessica) of Havertown; daughter, Minda of Montoursville; sister, Julia Johnson, of Williamsport; sister, Maureen (Roger) Pauling, of Manalapan, NJ; brother-in-law, Dennis (Janis) Schwenke, of Point Pleasant, NJ; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive family and friends at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 100 Walnut St., Montoursville, with Rev. David W. Bechtel officiating. Burial to follow at Montoursville Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions to Dementia Friendly Lycoming County, 878 Old Cement Rd., Muncy PA, 17756 or to the Dr. W.B. Konkle Memorial Library, 384 Broad St., Montoursville, PA, 17754 or to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 900 Mulberry St., Montoursville, PA 17754.

The family would like to thank the administration and staff of Heritage Springs Memory Care in Montoursville for taking the best care of Mike and for supporting us the last three and a half years.
