Barbara A. Fullmer
Barbara A. Fullmer, 83, of Cogan Station, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at The Gatehouse. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Walter. E Fullmer, III who passed away on October 28, 2012.
Born March 1, 1943, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Elizabeth (Heim) Ely.
Barbara was a 1961 graduate of Williamsport Area High School and continued her education at Lock Haven University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She spent her career working for the Williamsport Area School District as a devoted and attentive teacher. Barbara was born for this role, always approaching the day with a positive attitude and a strong passion for teaching the next generation.
Barbara was a member of the Hepburn Baptist Church and held a strong faith. She was a board member of the Blooming Grove Historical Society, with an enduring connection to her German heritage. She and Walt enjoyed many years collecting antiques and traveling to antique shows. Early on, they owned several horses and enjoyed riding and driving horses. Barbara enjoyed bird watching and observing the numerous animals that mother nature provided around her property. During the colder months, she spent many hours putting puzzles together.
Barbara is survived by a daughter, Michele L. Harter (Michael); two grandchildren, Elizabeth L. and Nathan E. Harter, all of Middletown; a brother, Richard Ely (Brenda), of San Jose, CA; and family member Dean Springman, of Philadelphia.
In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a brother, Karl Ely, Jr.
A memorial service to honor Barbara’s life will be held Wednesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at Hepburn Baptist Church, 2917 Pleasant Valley Rd, Cogan Station, PA 17728. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the service begins. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Barbara’s name to the Hepburn Baptist Church or the Blooming Grove Historical Society, 397 Dunkard Church Rd, Cogan Station, PA 17728.
