Glenn R. Williams, age 92, of Williamsport, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. He was born on November 8, 1933, in Hughesville, a son of the late George B. and Grace R. (Hackenberry) Williams. Along with his parents, Glenn was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Rood) Williams; his brother, Donald Williams; and his sister, Peggy Guerrisky.
Glenn grew up in Lycoming County and graduated from Williamsport High School. He earned his degree in civil engineering from Penn State University and went on to build a distinguished career as a surveying engineer. His work included highway and building construction, as well as aerial, geodetic, and astronomical surveying. He worked for M.L. Smith Company for 15 years and later spent another 15 years with Buchart Horn in Lewisburg. He retired in 1998 as chief engineer of the Williamsport Water Company.
Outside of his work, Glenn was known for his active interests and generous spirit. He was a lifelong car enthusiast. He was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed riding the 26 miles on the Rails to Trails. He also gave his time to the Williamsport Historical Society and the Tabor Museum, where his volunteer efforts reflected his appreciation for history and education. In 2016, he was honored with the President's Volunteer of the Year Award from the Tabor Museum, and he also enjoyed volunteering with the kid's history camp.
Glenn was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church and had previously been a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Lewisburg. His faith was an important part of his life and provided him with strength and guidance through the years.
He is survived by his son, Marc Williams, and his wife, Amy; his grandsons, Jaron and Jacob Williams; his great-granddaughter, Maeve Williams; and other extended family members who will cherish his memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Glenn's name to the Thomas T. Tabor Museum, 858 West Fourth Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
Services to honor Glenn will be held at a later date.
