LeAnna L. Sanders, 81, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born LeAnna Kinney on March 21, 1945, in Williamsport, she was a lifelong resident of the community she loved. She treasured the familiar hills of north-central Pennsylvania. On September 12, 1964, she married James E. "Jim" Sanders, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Williamsport. Together they shared more than six decades of marriage.
In her younger years, LeAnna loved riding horses, training dogs, playing games with family and friends, growing herbs, and watching the birds that visited her yard. She delighted in nature's beauty and found pleasure in the changing seasons of Pennsylvania. Her family loved her famous Black Bottom Cake or Texas Sheet Cake--desserts that became family traditions.
LeAnna is survived by her devoted husband, James "Jim" Sanders; her two sons, Rev. Jeff Sanders and his wife, Julie, of Oregon, and their children, JoHanna and Jacob; and Rev. Jamie Sanders and his wife, Chrissy, of Williamsport, and their children, Isabelle, Madeline, and Luke. She is also survived by her sister, LaWanna Kinney of Virginia.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff of Geisinger Medical Center
during LeAnna's final days. To honor her wishes, there will not be a memorial service.
LeAnna's memory will live on in family recipes passed down, birds admired at backyard feeders,
games played around the table, and in the hearts of family and friends.
