Mabel E. Packard, 102, of Hughesville, died Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at The Gatehouse at Divine Providence. Born January 2, 1924, in Wallis Run, she was a daughter of C. Raymond Kepner and Lizzie (Remp) Kepner. Mabel married Ralph G. Packard on November 22, 1950, and shared 54 years of marriage prior to his passing on January 15, 2005.
Mabel was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She and her husband shared a love of travel. Mabel was known for the palm crosses she lovingly made for many years to share with her church and churches that requested them. She was known for her excellent baking skills which she happily shared with family and friends, especially her cookies during the Christmas season.
Mabel is survived by daughters, Carol L. (Bucky) Packard – Allis, of Watsontown, Annette M. (Steve) Bowes, of Milton; grandchildren, Garth and Sara Bowes; step-grandchildren, Matthew, Amy Allis, and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph G. Packard, a sister, and two brothers.
Funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at McCarty~Thomas Funeral Home 733 Broad Street, Montoursville with Pastor Kevin St. Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to The Gatehouse SH Foundation, 101 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
