Robert J. Stannert passed away peacefully on July 27th, 2026 after a brief but fierce battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Stannert; a daughter, Brenna Stannert; a son-in-law-to-be, Kaleb Hickok; a brother, Jack Stannert; a sister, Shelly Barr; as well as nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
These are the typical details found in an obituary, but here is what I believe you should know about Rob.
Rob loved being outdoors whether that meant hunting at his cabin, golfing with family or friends, planting food plots, walking his dogs on the mountain, or simply maintaining the lawn, he did this all with passion. Spending time with friends and family was one of Rob's greatest joys. He loved nothing more than planning the annual "seafood party" or hosting loved ones on Christmas Eve. Despite his love of socializing, family always came first. Every Sunday was "family day"--no exceptions--and every vacation was taken together.
Rob was also a master storyteller who could make a crowd laugh even if they'd heard the same story 29 times. He loved a good nickname. Nearly all his friends had one: Tracker, Kid, Yo, Betty, Chucker, Ben, Reuben, Tucker, Boy, "In-your-face" (sorry about that), Barrel, Baby, Woodrow Wilson, Chester. As for his daughter and myself, Brenna's nickname was "Love," and mine was "Dear."

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street Montoursville. Friends may come to gather and share memories from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family will provide flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Geisinger Health Foundation, 100 North Academy Avenue MC40-36, Danville, PA 17822. Please include, in memory of Robert Stannert, the Knapper Clinic, on the check.
