William G. Wood, Jr.

William G. Wood, Jr., 82, of Montoursville, died Friday, July 3, 2026, at The Gatehouse at Divine Providence.

Born June 12, 1944, he was a son of the late William Wood, Sr. and Norma (Scott) Wood.

William was known as an avid fisherman and a friend to everyone he met. He never missed an opportunity to tell a joke, enjoy a cold drink with his neighborhood friends, or strike up a long conversation with family and friends, especially with his brothers. Throughout his life, he enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including grilling, gardening, and flying radio-controlled airplanes. Above all else, William was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his family.

William proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he worked in radar defense, primarily while stationed in Korea. Following his honorable discharge, he began a career in banking security, retiring after many years of dedicated service.

He is survived by his sons, Matthew S. (Heather) Wood and Mitchell B. (Rebecca) Wood both of Montoursville; a daughter, Megan E. (Tim) Lebo of Westminster, MD; brothers James Wood of Ardmore, OK and Gary (Terry) Wood of Tulsa, OK; and his beloved grandchildren, Cheyenne, Cameron, Cassady, Walker, and Amelia Wood.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Wood in 2021.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2026, at the McCarty Thomas Funeral Home-Montoursville 733 Broad Street, Montoursville, PA 17754.
