Barbara M. Stackhouse, 77, of Williamsport, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026 as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident.
Born on November 27, 1948 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Stanley A. and Margaret M. (Dincher) Chopick.
For over 55 years, Barbara worked as an accountant and comptroller starting at Dixon AC & R Corporation and ending at Tiadaghton Contractors, Inc. She then went out on her own and started her own accounting business. With an exceptional eye for detail and a talent for tracking down what others couldn't, she became a forensic accountant. if something was lost, Barbara could find it.
Barb had a presence all her own and was easily recognized by her signature strut and her beautiful long blonde hair. Always impeccably put together, she kept an immaculate home and occasionally could be found doing yard work in her heels. And, in Barbara's own words, she was "forever 29."
Barbara especially loved the holidays, filling the house with family, creating cherished memories, and truly enjoying time spent with those she loved most.
Selfless, vibrant, and endlessly positive, she had a special way of making others feel seen, valued, and important.
Above all, Barb's family meant everything to her, and she took immense pride in each and every one of them.
Barbara leaves behind her sons, Steven Gallew of Williamsport, Brett Stackhouse of Connecticut, and Kurt Stackhouse of Dillsburg; daughters, Nicole Carter (David) and Erika Goode (Jeffrey), all of Williamsport; grandchildren, Kirsten Packer (Tyler), Jenna Gallew, Emma Gallew, Gabrian Stackhouse, Uriah Stackhouse, Christian Stackhouse, Kenny Carter (Kim), Mark Carter, Olivia Goode, Iyana Sewell, and Dominik Goode; two great grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Joseph Chopick (Nancy) of Williamsport; nephew, Rusty Bickel; and niece, Dawn Bertin.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Gaines.
