Benjamin H. Laurenson, Jr.

Benjamin H. Laurenson Jr., 90, of Old Lycoming Twp., passed away at home on August 19, 2026.

Born September 27, 1935 in Bloomsburg, he was the son of the late Benjamin H., Sr. and Vera (Houseknecht) Laurenson.

He was a graduate of Sullivan Highland High School and the former Williamsport Technical Institute. Ben spent his career and retired as a sheet metal worker. He was also a proud Marine Corps veteran.

Ben was a lifelong Methodist, attending the former Grace United Methodist Church, Trinity United Methodist Church and current South Williamsport United Methodist Church and served as a trustee for several years. After retirement, Ben served on Mission Trips to storm damaged areas of the country to help rebuild them.

He was also a lifetime member of the Old Lycoming Twp Volunteer Fire Co. serving as a trustee several times over the years and participated in the designing of the Dewey Ave Fire Station. In his younger years, he served Grace Church Boy Scouts while his son was in his scouting years.

An avid hunter and fisher, he enjoyed hunting on Bobst Mountain and fishing at several local lakes. His nephew, Greg, and great-grandson, Harrison, enjoyed his company and mentorship.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Irene (Golder); a sister, Sandra Shaffer; one son, Benjamin H. Laurenson, III (Tammi); three grandchildren, Jamie Laurenson (Danielle), Chelsea Laurenson, and Shelbi Laurenson; four great-grandchildren, Jada Willingham, Harrison Laurenson, Addalyn Laurenson and Bentley Borgess; two nephews, Kevin and Greg Shaffer; and a niece, Becky Murphy.

In addition to his parents, Ben was predeceased by a sister, Thelma Plant, and a grandson, Benjamin H. Laurenson, IV.

Ben's family will host a celebration of life and memorial service held at the Old Lycoming Twp Volunteer Fire Co. on Saturday, August 29 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 PM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ben's name to any Cancer Treatment Foundation of your choice, or, to the Old Lycoming Twp Fire Co., 1600 Dewey Ave, Williamsport, PA 17701, to which Ben felt deeply committed to.
