Dean E. Spring, 95, of Muncy, died Friday, August 21, 2026, at UPMC Muncy Place. Dean married the former Frances E. Dugan on April 5, 1952. They celebrated over 73 years of marriage together until her passing on November 12, 2025.
Born July 28, 1931, in Pine Summit, he was a son of the late George and Mary (Craig) Spring. Dean was a graduate of Muncy High School Class of 1950. Prior to his retirement he was employed at GTE Sylvania, Montoursville as a mechanic from 1952 to 1989. After his retirement he worked part-time for the Northern Central Bank Dealer Center. Dean was a life-long member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Clarkstown, and a former Church Council President. He was a member of the Muncy Lodge #299 F&AM, the Antique Automobile Club of America, Shikellamy Antique Car Club, and the East Lycoming Farm and Heritage Association. Dean enjoyed gardening, antique cars, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving is a son, Rodney (Karen) Spring of Muncy; a daughter-in-law, Nanci Spring, of Dover; three grandchildren, Adrienne (Colton) Myers, James (Katy) Spring, and Andrew (Nicole) Spring; six great-grandchildren, Owen, Leo, Benjamin, Briella, Austin, and Chloe; two step-sisters, Barbara Wood, of Muncy, and Sara Jane Aucker, of Muncy; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Dean was preceded in death by an infant son, Gregory, a son, Thomas; a brother Wayne, and sister Rena Updegraff.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2041 Route 442 Hwy., Muncy, Pennsylvania, with Minister James L. Girven officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Son Light House, 130 Carpenter Street, Muncy, PA.
