Elizabeth Mae Campbell, 96, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at her home. Born Friday, May 30, 1930, in Bristol, PA, she was the daughter of the late James E. Welker and the late Mary V. (Poreca) Welker.
Elizabeth graduated from Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing and dedicated her career to caring for others as a registered nurse at Williamsport Hospital, where she worked in the Rehabilitation Unit for 30 years before retiring in 2000. Throughout her nursing career, she was recognized by countless patients for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to their care. Elizabeth also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, participating in an all-women's build, the American Red Cross, and with the local Williamsport, PA library, continuing her lifelong commitment to helping others. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening, reading a good book, and completing crossword puzzles. As the wife of a career military serviceman, Elizabeth and her family had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the United States and abroad, creating many cherished memories along the way. A talented seamstress, Elizabeth lovingly made many of her children's clothes when they were young. In her later years, she greatly enjoyed her time at Homewood, where she formed many meaningful friendships and treasured the companionship of those around her.
She is survived by her children, Susan (Frederick) Doane, Donna (Philip) Potak, Michael (Karen) Campbell, Thomas (Lorena) Campbell, and Joseph Campbell; grandchildren, Justin (Amy Malchano) Campbell, Kiel (Carla) Campbell, Christie (Kenneth) Green, Megan (Benjamin) Arnold, Kaitlin (Roberto Boffi) Potak, Alexander Doane, Rachel Doane, Justin (Courtney) Mellor, and Megan Mellor; great grandchildren, Cameron, Cade, and Kallie Campbell, Aiden and Myles Green, Augustus, Arthur, Abraham, and Abigale Arnold, Julian Boffi, Genevieve and Delilah Mellor, Declan and Izabella Shumaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Campbell.
Graveside services were held Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD. Online condolences may be expressed at www.douglasfiery.com.
