Born Jan. 19, 1937, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph S. Slattery and Sarah E. Wilkinson, and stepdaughter of Henry Wilkinson.

She was married to George O. Way until his passing in 2020; they were married for 38 years.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marilu was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jane Doebler; and two brothers, George and Richard Slattery.

Marilu is survived by her stepbrother, H. Jake Wilkinson, of Montoursville; and caretaker/niece, Lori Reber, of Muncy; and many nieces and nephews.

Marilu enjoyed her animals the most. Her famous quote was "I love animals more than people," and she especially loved her dog, "Diva."

Marilu enjoyed playing golf at the local courses with the men, traveling and going to Florida during the winters in Pa.

Marilu started her career in the typing pool at Penn-Dot in Montoursville. She was there for 27 years and made her way to the top. She worked to become a Tort Liability Specialist, the first woman to ever hold that position.

Marilu was a life-long member of the Faith Wesleyan Church in Williamsport.
