Rev. Hobart G. Campbell, 92, of Montoursville, died Monday, July 27, 2026 at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport.
Born December 5, 1933 in Utica, New York, he was the only child of the late Hobart T. and Sara-Louise (Butcher) Campbell.
After graduating from high school in 1952, Hobart studied Philosophy and Theology. He received his Master's in Theology from the University of Heidelberg, Germany and was ordained February 9, 1969. It was while attending this University he met his future wife, the former, Hedwig "Hedi" Mueller, a renowned Opera singer and Choir director.
After moving back to the United States, Hobart was called to pastor the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, where he served the congregation with much support of his wife over the next 30 years. After retirement, Hobart served the congregation of the Montgomery Presbyterian Church for 17 years.
Hobart liked to devote his free time to photography and painting. He was particularly fond of a portrait he painted of his wife as well as family and landscapes. After retirement, Hobart had more time for his passions; travel, literature and classical music. He and Hedi loved traveling to Germany, her homeland, to visit friends and her two nieces, Ulla and Petra and their families, which were very important to them.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Hedi on February 11, 2026.
Services are being planned for this fall and will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions in Hobart's name may be made to either the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 205 Tule St., Montoursville, PA 17754 or the Montgomery Grace Presbyterian Church, 105 Second St., Montgomery, PA 17752.
