Doris J. Gorg

Doris J. Gorg, 76, of Muncy, died Monday, August 31, 2026, at Watsontown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born December 15, 1949, in Hughesville, she was a daughter of the late Britton and Emma (Clark) Walters.

Doris was a 1968 graduate of Hughesville High School. She began a long career with Sears when the store opened in 1978 and faithfully served the company for 38 years. Throughout her time there, she held a variety of positions, beginning with cleaning the store and completing markdowns before eventually becoming manager of the shoe department. She retired in 2016. Doris also spent time working at Fry's Auction Hall, where she helped with a variety of duties.

On July 2, 1976, Doris married her husband, Gary, and spent the rest of her life by his side. They proudly celebrated 50 years of marriage this past July. She was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana who cherished every moment spent with her family. She especially loved going to her grandchildren's sporting events to cheer them on.

She was a member of the North Central Corvette Club as well as the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Gary Gorg of Muncy; are her daughters, Tammy (Gregory) Weigle of Muncy and Vickey Anspach of Montgomery; step-children, Crystal (Robert) Colburn-Hager of Hughesville and Dennis (Kathy) Gorg of Muncy; a brother, Thomas Walters; a sister, Brenda (Keith) Harer; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and Rusty, her beloved Golden Retriever.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Roy, Gordon, Robert, Warren, Harley, and Donald Walters; sisters, Shirley Houseknecht and Mildred Bernard.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2026, at Twin Hills Memorial Park, 3332 Lycoming Mall Dr., Muncy, PA, 17756 with Pastor Martin Coffey officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.

The family will provide flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA, 17701.
