Doris L. "Maude" LaForme, 88, of Muncy, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at The Gatehouse: UPMC Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport.
Born December 7, 1937 on the family farm in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late W. Herman and G. Elizabeth (Hoy) Keener. On October 10, 1958 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, she married Paul E. LaForme, and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage until his passing in 2024.
Doris was a 1955 graduate of North-Mont High School, Turbotville. After high school, she worked at Geisinger Medical Center, Myco Manufacturing Company, GTE Sylvania, and later retired from International Paper Co. with over 30 years of service. She spent time working in the cafeteria at Warrior Run High School and dedicated many years to Clinton County and Selinsgrove Speedway in their concession stands.
Doris and Paul met square dancing, and spent the rest of their lives dancing together. They traveled often, spending many winters in Leesburg and Fruitland Park, Florida as well as time in Canada at Lake Simcoe and the Thatcher Family Cabin. Blessed to be known as Pap and Gram, nothing brought them more fulfillment than being surrounded by their grand and great-grandchildren.
She was a lifelong, faithful member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville, where she sang in the choir and was active with the Disaster Relief Team, helping to make many of the soups and apple dumplings.
Doris loved being busy, spending time at the river, camping and waterskiing. She enjoyed having friends over, and time spent surrounded by the people she loved, meeting former coworkers for breakfast. Her life was well lived.
Doris is survived by two sons, Harold LaForme and his wife, Kathy, of Muncy, and Edward LaForme and his wife, Mary, of Watsontown; three grandchildren, Jennifer Myers and her husband, Chris, Christopher LaForme and his wife, Kari, and Charlee LaForme; three step-grandchildren, Douglas, Christopher, and Brittany Nyman; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Hayden Myers; three step-great-grandchildren, Benjamin Lechniak, Maxwell and Brynlee Nyman; a brother, Charles Keener, of Muncy; two special friends that she called her daughters, Trudy Gearhart, of Berwick, and Karen Engelman, of Milton; and her best friend, Gary, her cat, who spent time by her side, day and night.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by two nieces, Donna Moser and Lucille "Celley" Keener.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville where the funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. with her paster, Rev. Erwin C. Roux, officiating. Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
