Marjorie Janice Hampton

Marjorie Janice Hampton, 103, of Holiday Florida passed away peacefully on August 14th, 2026. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife and friend and will be dearly missed.

Marjorie was born in Renovo, Pennsylvania on 10/26/1922 and was the youngest daughter of Gustave and Etta Heintz. Her mother passed at a young age and Marjorie was raised by her aunt and uncle Thursa and Ben White though she maintained a close relationship throughout her whole life with her brother and sisters Robert, Eleanor and Evelyn, spending many nights of laughter and card games and teaching future generations to value the strength and joy of family togetherness.

Marjorie was educated in Williamsport, PA completing high school and a college accounting degree and went on to have a long career with General Electric until fulfilling her retirement dream of running a knitting shop with her husband and eventually moving to Florida. She was an avid bowler and golfer with the legend of having two holes in one on hole number 7 at White Deer golf course. She was active in the Newberry United Methodist church where she sang in the choir. Marjorie valued education and music and encouraged her daughters in a musical education of singing and piano playing that has extended to her great grandchildren.

Marjorie was not a stranger to loss in her life as she was predeceased by her husband, Evie Henrichs who died in the Pacific in WWII and her daughter, Dee Henrichs who died at a young age of Lupus. But her quiet strength and faith allowed her to find joy throughout life. She was remarried to LaRue Hampton of Williamsport, PA and had a long, loving life with him until his death in 2007. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Lana Wertz, and has a legacy of three granddaughters, Melissa Johnson, Jennifer Houlihan and Abigail Wertz; ten great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Marjorie will be remembered by her family for her quiet strength, her feisty spirit and unwavering love for her family. Services will be held in Williamsport, PA at a later date.
