Michael J. "Mick" Sevinsky, born on June 6, 1947, in Lock Haven, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 17, 2026.
He was the son of the late Michael J. and Helen (Stania) Charnick and was also lovingly raised by his adoptive parents, William and Ann Sevinsky. Mick carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and family throughout his life, and those who knew him will remember him for the steady and sincere way he lived each day. He was preceded in death by his beloved German shepherd, Maverick, who held a special place in his heart.
Mick was a 1966 graduate of Lock Haven High School, and he went on to build a life marked by dedication and service. He worked for Bethlehem Steel and later retired from Lonza after 10 years of employment. His strong work ethic and dependable nature were evident in every role he held, and he took pride in doing his part well. He also served his country honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Constellation during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that reflected his courage and commitment to something greater than himself.
A man of faith, Mick was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church and lived as a Christian in both word and deed. He also remained active in the community through his membership as a life member of Leroy O. Buck V.F.W. Post 7863, Duboistown and as a member of American Legion Post 617, South Williamsport. These affiliations reflected his respect for service, camaraderie, and the bonds formed through shared experience.
Mick found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. He loved fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, and spending time at his cabin. Above all, he treasured time with his family, and those moments were among the most important in his life. Whether gathered together for conversation, laughter, or quiet companionship, he valued being surrounded by the people he loved most.
He is survived by his daughters, Janelle L. Allen and her husband Matt, and Barbara A. Guthrie and her husband Randy. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Travis Allen and Alexa Allen, as well as his great-grandchildren, Jefferson "JJ" and Stetson. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Balash.
A memorial service to honor the life of Mick will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave. Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until the time of service. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.
