It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Warren Waymond Swank, Sr., of Lairdsville, who departed this life peacefully on September 11, 2026, at the age of 85.
Born September 4, 1941, in Muncy Valley at the family homestead, he was a son of the late Lester and Pauline (Yeager) Swank. Warren was a hardworking man who built a career as an auto mechanic and established his own business. This stands as a testament to his talent. He was proud of his work and continued to serve the community and surrounding area until his retirement.
On December 12, 1961, Warren married his devoted wife, Doris (Freer) Swank, and together they celebrated 64 loving years together.
Warren was a kind and gentle soul, determined to provide for his family. Family and friends meant more to him than anything else in the world. He always had a contagious smile, a sense of humor and was quick with a quirky joke. Warren was known for his love of hunting, fishing, camping with his family along the river, and woodworking. You could often find him tinkering in the garage or in the woodshop making something for his family. Warren's unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Lairdsville; daughters, Reanna (Dennis) Derrick of Benton, Joyce (Jerry) Derrick of Hughesville, Sheila Swank of Willisburg, KY, Michelle (Aaron) Riddle of Berwick; son, Warren (Joyce) Swank, Jr. of Lairdsville; brother, Robert (Margaret) Swank of Bloomsburg; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
Besides his parents, Warren is also preceded in death by his daughter, Yvonne Ann Swank; grandchildren, Laura Wagner and David Allen Green; great-granddaughter, Arianna Hartman; son-in-law, David Green and nine siblings.
A Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home – Hughesville, 557 E. Water St. with Pastor Walter Minto officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
