In keeping with his wishes and true to his character, Jay wrote the following obituary himself, allowing his story to be told in his own words:
The Right Reverend, Most Holy Father, and all-around good person, Jay Allen Morris, as he liked to introduce himself, better known as "Peej" or "PJ", died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Muncy.
The second of two sons, Jay was born to Norman and Phyllis Rae Zinck Morris on August 24, 1956. He was a 1974 graduate of Loyalsock Township High School; a 1978 graduate of Bloomsburg State College and a 1985 graduate of United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH.
For more than 30 years, Jay faithfully served as a pastor to many congregations throughout the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church.
While an exhaustive list of family would take pages to complete, PJ would like to formally acknowledge the following for sharing a special place in his life, his heart family. This includes the late Mrs. Kathryn McMahon; the camp staffs who served with him at Wesley Forest; Mrs. Marsha Snyder; the congregation of the Little Marsh UMC; the Ken & Tammy Gavek family; the Tony & Vickie Dgien family; Rev. Charles Baughman; Rev. & Mrs. Robert Stump; and the Robert & Dot Sitler families.
A gathering of friends and family to remember and celebrate PJ's life will be held at Wesley Forest Camp in Weikert, PA. Details will be announced as soon as they become available. If you wish to attend and would like to be notified directly of the service date and time, kindly email Tony Dgien at tdgien@comcast.net.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Susquehanna Conference Camp and Retreat Ministries designated for the maintenance and improvements of Wesley Forest Camp. Memorials can be mailed to 303 Mulberry Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
Arrangements entrusted to Sanders Mortuary, Williamsport.
