Larry W. Gardner, 81, of Hughesville, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center – Muncy.
Born May 21, 1945 in Pine Summit, he was a son of the late Walter and Ocie (Lyons) Gardner. He was married to Norma L. (Neal) Gardner, who preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 2017. Following Norma's passing, Larry found joy again when he met his beloved companion of the last five years, Janet Reeder, who survives him.
After attending Hughesville High School, Larry spent his working life at various companies, including Smith's Trucking, Rishel's Furniture and most recently, Bulkmatic Transport, where he worked as a terminal manager for over 20 years. He retired in 2013.
When he wasn't working, Larry loved to work with his hands, whether he was woodworking, constructing furniture or restoring automobiles. He also enjoyed camping at the former Shady Rest Campground.
Larry was a member of Pine Summit Church in Unityville and the Muncy Valley Moose 866 in Hughesville.
Surviving are three sons, Mike (April) Gardner, of Williamsport, Mark (Coty) Gardner, of Folkston, Ga., and Larry A. (Cathi) Gardner, of Montgomery; a daughter, Bobbi Sue (Craig) Gansell, of Picture Rocks; grandchildren, Corey (Nichole), Breanna, Chrissy, Jimmy (Dacia), and Mikey (Morgan) Gardner; and a new great-grandson, Luke Gardner.
In addition to his parents and wife, Norma, Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Gardner; his second wife, Ann Gardner; a brother, Wayne Gardner; sisters, Ruth Crammond and Ola Stackhouse; brothers-in-law, Clyde Crammond and Chet Stackhouse; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Gardner.
Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home – Hughesville, 557 E. Water St. Hughesville, Pennsylvania, with Rev. Martin Parr officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home-Hughesville 557 E Water St, Hughesville, PA 17737.
